Of the six categories Conde Nast Traveler readers use to rank their favorite cities in the magazine’s annual survey, one is particularly personal. While evaluating lodging, restaurants and shopping is pretty straight forward, friendliness is based entirely on real people’s first hand experience with our destination. We know there are untold heroes working in our hospitality community. That’s why we’ve begun saluting Charlestonly Ambassadors, frontline folks who take pride in providing a customer service experience that is second to none. It’s our way of saying Thanks Y’all for helping the Charleston area put its best face forward everyday.
Please join us in saluting Richard Field of Wild Dunes, the newest Charlestonly Ambassador. Richard works day and night—literally, to exemplify exceptional service. Of the stories shared with us by the colleague who nominated Richard, this one stood out:
Late one evening, a guest pulled up to the bell stand in a car that had been egged by mischievous children. Eggs are a tricky, sticky mess and can cause major damage to car paint. Without being asked to do so, Richard immediately began to wash the car. It took quite some time to complete the job. In fact, Richard stayed way past the end of his shift to make sure the guest’s car was as good as new.
Richard, you are a shining example of sincere hospitality. Thanks!
