We paid a visit to the Ocean Course last week for a behind-the-scenes tour with our PGA Championship friends. What we found was astounding: a veritable army of engineers and specialized construction workers working to rapidly erect what is essentially a small city, all in the span of a few weeks. The sheer scale of the tournament’s temporary pavilions, hospitality suites, media center, satellite truck rodeo and other structures amazed us, and we want to give you a taste of what is in store.

 

Number of square feet of flooring assembled onsite for the 2012 PGA Championship: 500,000—enough to cover six football fields!

 

Number of jobs generated: 832

 

Number of hours of live television broadcast from the Ocean Course to U.S. households: 154 hours

 

Number of countries the television coverage reaches: more than 200

 

Number of hospitality suites that measure greater than 30,000 square feet: four
